Aloe Vera GellyAloe vera is rapidy extending into consumer consciousness. Long used in beauty products we now see it listed increasingly as an ingredient in many of our common household products such as soaps, shampoos, dishwasher fluid, laundry detergents and more. Often just a drop or two so that it can be listed as an ingredient. (The further down the ingredients listing, the lesser the quantity.)

Thus it is little wonder that the soft drink industry, with a global market worth $447 billion (€342 billion) is jumping on the bandwagon.

According to a 16 Dec 2012 article on "BeverageDaily.com," the beverage industry has acknowledged the increased consumer desire for healthier options.

Aloe Vera, according to Leatherhead Food Research, is " . . . now finding increasing favor within food and drink manufacture, 'especially given the trends towards beauty-enhancing products.'"

For the truly health-conscious, though, it is best to avoid sugary drinks.

A final interesting note regarding aloe vera and the food and beverage industry, aloe vera is increasingly being used as a natural food preservative.
